The Alumni of the School of Foreign Languages Won the Silver Award of the 12th Chinese Nebula Award

On October 23rd, 2021, the 12th Chinese Nebula Award ceremony was held in Chongqing. Lv Guangzhao, a 2016 graduate of the School of Foreign Languages at Dalian University of Technology and a doctoral candidate in Comparative Literature at University College London, won the silver award “Review of the Year 2020” forThree Feet of Snow in Jinyang: “Silk Punk and Retro Futurism.” Liu Cixin, a famous science fiction writer, Sanfeng, a famous science fiction scholar, and Zhong Tianyi, an emerging science fiction author also received awards. The gold award winner was Jiang Zhenyu, a famous science fiction scholar and postdoctoral teacher at Sichuan University.
The Chinese Nebula Award is the highest honor in Chinese science fiction, awarded by the World Chinese Science Fiction Association (CSFA), with a total of eight awards, including: Novel of the Year, Novella of the Year, Short Story of the Year, Translated work of the Year, Non-fiction of the Year, Review of the Year, Rising Star of the Year, and Young Adult Work of the Year. Its annual prize-winning works are also an important indicator of the science fiction industry and academic research.
Lv Guangzhao’s article was published on the official account “Science Fiction Research in London” in March 2020, which was one of the academic results of the series of seminars from the “London Chinese Science Fiction Association” of which Lv was the head. Up to now, the “association” has successfully held nearly 30 science fiction seminars, and successfully invited Han Song, Chen Qiufan, Xia Jia, Yan Ge, Cheng Jingbo, and other famous writers to participate in discussions, achieving a wide range of academic and social influence at home and abroad.
