June 15, 2023

On the afternoon of June 13th, the commencement and degree conferral of the 2023 Class of the School of Foreign Languages was held in the International Conference Center. The graduation ceremony was presented by the School’s Party and government leadership, department heads, teacher representatives and counselors. It was attended by 103 undergraduates (second bachelor's degree), 74 masters students and parents.

The graduation ceremony started with the national anthem. At the beginning, Professor Chen Hongjun, Dean and doctoral supervisor on behalf of the School of Foreign Languages, extended sincere congratulations to all the graduates. He also sent three instructions to them: to think in big-picture terms, finding the direction of life in clear-cut learning; to act with a grateful mind, retaining a pure heart in the persistence of practice; to take lead on the life road, realizing their dreams in the face of wind and rain. Professor Chen wished the 2023 graduates to run fast on the track of youth and get good results.

Zhang Li, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, sent heartfelt wishes and high hopes that all graduates would cherish the friends and teachers made at DUT. She added that no matter what kind of career they would be engaged in, they must have the courage to move forward and bravely shoulder the responsibility of youth and the mission of The Times. The graduates must integrate youthful ideals into the Chinese dream for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, give full play to every part of their own strength and dare to courageously stand at the forefront of The Times.

Associate Professor Xv Mingying, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and vice dean of the School, read out the list of outstanding graduates, graduates that would enhance the nations future or become employment models, and alumni liaisons. She also issued certificates to the 2023 Class alumni liaisons.

Then, vice Dean Sun Chengzhi and Ding Man read the list of 2023 masters degrees to be awarded and 2023 undergraduate degrees to be awarded respectively.

Graduates wore exclusive cap and gowns customized with personal names, accepting professors to turn the tassel, award the degree, shake hands of congratulations and send best wishes to them.

Graduate student representative He Yuling and the main campus undergraduate student representative Chen Yiming both gave speeches . Their words were full of gratitude to all who helped them over the last four years: the teachers who have worked hard to teach them, everyone who they have met and known, the bits and pieces of the past, and the effort of their own.

Mr. Liu Yuqiang, as the representative of the parents, delivered a speech, saying that all families felt extremely happy that their children had made such progress and achievements in the School of Foreign Languages. Meanwhile, Mr. Liu expressed his sincere thanks to the school, college leaders and teachers for the care and training of the children, as well as fervent expectations to all the graduates who were firmly struggling for their dreams.

The Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and vice dean of the School of Foreign Languages sent graduation wishes to the graduates of the class of 2023 and hopes that they could safely ride the wind and waves in the new journey of life.

Finally, the 2023 graduates of the School of Foreign Languages wished both the school and the university a future of accelerated excellence and to strive for first-class education!

With that the commencement and degree conferral of the 2023 Class of the School of Foreign Languages came to a successful end.

After the ceremony, all the teachers specially prepared a warm and considerate buffet for the graduates. The music was pleasant and the atmosphere was harmonious, with everyone sitting side by side, enjoying the food and talking with each other.

Permeated in the air, was not only the graduates’ attachment to the campus life, but also their nervousness of entering society and a beautiful vision of the future life.

Camera shutter fixed this moment, making flying youth and memories become eternal. Under a clear sky, graduates were about to embark on the next stage of their new chapter.

The wheel of time slowly drives all students forward. Meeting in autumn, separating in summer, we will all eventually go to our own destination. Best wishes to all the graduates of the 2023 School of Foreign Languages for a bright future and we look forward to seeing you all again in the future!
