School of Foreign Languages was Awarded the Chinese Academic Foreign Translation Project of the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSFC)

On May 5th, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences released the approval list for Chinese Academic Foreign Translation projects in the years 2022-2023, supported by National Social Science Fund of China. The project of C-E translation ofA Research on Architectures of Dunhuang applicated by Ge Tianshuang, a teacher from School of Foreign Languages, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) was approved, which is the second approved Chinese Academic Foreign Translation project of our School.
As a major category of projects supported by the National Social Science Fund, the Chinese Academic Foreign Translation project helps excellent Chinese academic works get published in foreign languages by authoritative foreign publishing presses, in an effort to help them enter mainstream publication and communication channels. In this way, academic communications between China and foreign countries will further deepen, and China’s academic influence will also expand. As a result, China’s voice on international academic issues will be amplified and the world will know about “a China in philosophy and social sciences”. The bookA Research on Architectures of Dunhuang is an important work in Dunhuang studies, which serve as a pioneer for sharing Chinese culture with the world. Thus, the foreign promotion of the book will play a key role in scientific protection, academic research, inheritance and promotion of arts during the international communication process of Chinese culture. The approval for the translation of this book is not only a recognition of the academic value of the book itself butalso an affirmation of the important contributions to international academic exchange and cultural communication made by our School in the discipline of foreign languages.
The School of Foreign Languages has always contributed to economic and social development and fulfilled China’s strategy of international cultural communication by publishing translated works, hosting cultural activities, providing translation services for enterprises and governments, and conducting cross-cultural communication training, etc. The approval of this project has enriched the academic achievements of our School and steered our School in a clear direction towards serving society by taking advantage of the foreign language discipline and talents.
