The Institute of Japanese Studies

The Institute of Japanese Studies was founded in 1986 as the Japanese Research Office of Dalian University of Technology headed by Professor Zhang Shijun, a well-known scholar. Dr. Du Fenggang is the director at present. After its establishment, the Japanese Research Office became engaged in “education research in foreign higher universities of science and engineering” for a period of time, and edited and published theForeign Higher Science and Engineering Educationjournal. At the same time, the Japanese Research Office has taken into account the liaison and consultation work of both the university and Dalian's exchange with Japan, making important contributions in both fields. In 1995, the Research Office was renamed the Institute of Japanese Studies. Under the direct leadership of the University, it actively carried out foreign exchanges and further expanded the field of exchange and research with Japan. During this period, in accordance with the instructions of the school, the institute also established a Chinese language teaching institution for foreigners in our university in collaboration with the Academic Affairs Office. In terms of scientific research, foreign experts have been introduced to complete data collection and research work on the “privatization of Japanese State-owned enterprises” commissioned by the municipal government. At present, in addition to commissioned thematic research, the Institute has actively cooperated with domestic and foreign universities to carry out extensive research in the fields of literature, linguistics, culture, translation, foreign language teaching and so on. What’s more, it has also actively strived to make some pioneering explorations in “foreign language and literature research based on philosophy” and “foreign philosophy research based on language and literature.”

The Institute of Japanese Studies is an academic research platform open to peers inside and outside the university. We sincerely welcome all academic friends who are interested in research in related fields to join.
