TheTeaching and Research Office for Non-English-Major Postgraduates boasts of a team with rich teaching experiences,high academic standards and reasonable age structure. At present, there are12 full-time teachers, includingthree professors,four associate professors,among whom nine holddoctoral degree. Another twoforeign teachers are undertaking teaching duties.The office is mainly responsible for teaching Englishcourses of different levelstonon-English-majorpostgraduates--both masters’ and doctors’ candidates included,and the core coursescover Reading and Writing,andOral Communication. The teachers of theoffice arediligentinbothteaching andacademic research, and havegained many important achievements. In recent years,several teachers havereceived social science funds at national, provincial and ministerial levels. A great sum of papers have been publishedin core journals at home and abroad, as well as a number of monographs and translations.The office has undertaken multiple provincial and university-level educational reform projects. It has been approved for several high-quality graduate courses, with three of them being designated as exemplary courses for ideological and political education. Additionally, the teachers have published about 20 textbooks for postgraduate public English courses. As a result, they have received the first prize for excellent teaching achievements at the provincial level, several awards for outstanding teaching achievements at the university level, and awards in various teaching competitions.
