Deepening Cooperation between Humanities and Medicine to Pioneer a New Path of Development for the Discipline of Foreign Languages

On the afternoon of April 24th, the signing ceremony for the scientific research cooperation agreement between Dalian Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and School of Foreign Languages, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) was held in the 715 conference room of Haiyan building, with the aim to facilitate academic exchange and scientific research between the two parties. By signing the agreement, we hope to expand thinking on scientific research, promote the commercialization of scientific research, and improve diagnosis and treatment of diseases regarding language disorders.

During the ceremony, Professor Chen Hongjun, Dean of School of Foreign Languages, delivered a welcoming speech to greet the experts from Dalian Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, emphasizing the cooperations ability to bring about more new ideas and resources for both parties, which will enable the interdisciplinary development of scientific research for School of Foreign Languages. In addition, Professor Chen Hongjun also expressed appreciation for the support and the assistance of Hu Dawei, the director of Dalian Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. While Professor Chen Hongjun stressed that this cooperation would create more opportunities for the development of both institutions.

As Hu Dawei, the director ofDalian Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, has noted, the institution has always been dedicated to providing high-quality medical care andstrengthening the cooperation on scientific studies. In a similar vein, the cooperation betweenDalian Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and School of Foreign Languages, DUT will usher in new opportunities for the improvement of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation as well. He pointed out that the cooperation would deliver key contributions to scientific research development in areas like psychology and speech rehabilitation.

Subsequently, Professor Chen Hongjun and Director Hu Dawei signed the cooperation agreement on scientific research. Under the agreement, the two parties will maintainclose cooperation in scientific research, academic communication and commercialization of scientific achievements, promoting the rapid development of scientific research for both parties.

During the meeting, the two parties exchanged ideas on a variety of different areas of research, including humor interventiontreatment fordepression andanxiety, sleep monitoring, fatigue monitoring, pain treatment, autism intervention, aphasia intervention, etc. The two parties had already been cooperating on some of these areas, and this new agreement will allow for further collaboration in those areas. There were positive discussions and communications among experts and scholars from both parties during the ceremony, in which a preliminary cooperation plan was drafted in aphasia assessment and humor intervention.
