The School of Foreign Languages, DUT, Panjin Campus, was a former subdivision of the School of Arts and Law. In November 2019, the former School of Arts and Law wasreorganized, and the business English major was restructured into the School of Foreign Languages, DUT, Panjin Campus.

The School of Foreign Languages, DUT, has been committed to building prominent high-level foreign language disciplines through its unique features in China. It was granted the right to confer master’s degrees in the sub-disciplines of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics and English Literature. Subsequently, it gained the right to confer master’s degrees in Foreign Language and Literature, and Masters of Interpreting and Translation (MTI). In addition, it has been responsible for many research projects at national, provincial and ministerial levels, winning a variety of academic awards.

In theSchool of Foreign Languages, Panjin Campus, there are various professional training rooms, including simultaneous interpreting training rooms, remote meeting rooms, business negotiation training rooms, rooms for self-learning platform, simulation rooms, and more. Its Department of Business English (business English undergraduate major) mainly focuses on business negotiation, business trade, business communication, etc.

Thebusiness English undergraduate major endeavors to train talents with a solid foundation, international vision and humanistic quality. Students from business English will grasp knowledge on linguistics, economics, management, international business law, basically and theoretically, and learn principles and conventions in international business, equipped with English application ability, business practice ability, critical thinking and innovation ability and self-learning ability. In this manner, they will become versatile talents in international business. The unique feature of the business English major is the equal emphasis on international business and English proficiency, rooted in science and engineering. With integrated disciplines, theories and practice will be strengthened, together with international vision and learning ability.

Major courses: Cross-cultural Communication, Business Negotiation, International Business Etiquette and Culture, Business Interpreting, Business Translation, Market Promotion, Business Practice, International Finance, InternationalContract; and optional courses on management and finance.

Business English majors are qualified for employment in international business companies, transnational corporations, public relation department, reception division, promotion department, human resource department and financial department and training department (translation, secretary and management) in foreign-related institutions (especially those for science and engineering background); translation, management and daily operations in foreign-related department in national and local governments; agents, business assistants, business translator, business negotiator in international trade or import and export trade (especially those for science and engineering background), etc.
