Teaching and ResearchDepartment of College English is currently staffed by 32 members, including 4 professors, 19 associate professors, 7 lecturers and 2 foreign teachers. 11 of them are master supervisors. 94% of them had the overseas research experience for one year or more than one year.The department is responsible for college English teaching of first-year and second-year non-English major undergraduates.

Responsible for 2 National Social Science Fund Projects and more than 10 projects of Ministry of Education and provincial/municipal level, the teachers ofthe departmenthavepublished more than 100 papers in important domestic journals and more than 20 textbooks, monographs and translations. The course of “College English” is “National Demonstration Unit of College English” and “College English Excellent Course in Liaoning Province”, winning the third prize of Provincial Excellent Teaching Achievement. College English 1- Critical Reading and other four courses have been approved as First-class Undergraduate Courses in Liaoning Province. One teacher won the Excellent Teacher of Baogang Education Award.

The department, combining the guiding ideology of “new liberal arts” with the background of science and engineering of DUT, based on the new requirements for high-quality talents, has unified instrumental value, humanistic value and international value of foreign languages to form a distinctive path for the cultivation of specialized talents.
